Double funeral services for Pauline Avanelle and Emerson Lyon were held Saturday afternoon at the Bright Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Hubble, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, and Rev. Paul E. Million, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiated. Serving as pallbearers for Pauline Lyon were James Muster of Riverside, Calif.; Merle Terry, Jack Harwood, James Thomas, Dean McClain and Robert Fyffe. Serving as pallbearers for Emerson Lyon were Mason Fyffe, Richard Sarver, David Harper, Leslie Fields, Norris Roudebush and Dan Binns. The pallbearers assisted with the floral tributes. Curtis E. Bright played requested organ selections, which included "Beyond the Sunset," "Sweet Hour of Prayer," "In the Garden" and "Eastern Gate." Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Lyon were buried in Oak Hill Cemetery. They were killed Wednesday afternoon on Ind. 32 east of Crawfordsville.

Emerson Lloyd Lyon was a son of Wilbert and Maude Royer Lyon and was born July 3, 1914, north of Crawfordsville. He was married to Pauline Avanelle McClaine in Crawfordsville Nov. 19, 1935, and they began housekeeping at New Richmond. Mr. Lyon was a machinist at the R. R. Donnelley & Sons Co. plant here. Previously for a period of 12 years he was employed at Sommer Metalcraft Corp. Most of the Lyon's married life was spent in Crawfordsville. They lived at 1102 Durham Dr. except from last December to April when they were in Riverside, Calif. Since returning they had lived in an apartment of a home occupied by Mrs. Lyon's mother at Darlington. Surviving them are a son, Robert L. of Darlington, and daughter, Beverly Kay, attending Cedarville College at Cedarville, Ohio. Mr. Lyon's survivors include the parents, of New Richmond; two sisters, Mrs. Russell Harwood of near Crawfordsville and Mrs. Mary Muster of Riverside, Calif., and three brothers, Art and Monroe of Crawfordsville and Claude of New Richmond. Mrs. Lyon was born April 19, 1914, in Parke County, near Waveland, the daughter of Leslie Earl and Bessie Mae Everson McClain. She was employed at the Donnelley plant here prior to her marriage. She was a member of the Ladoga Christian Church. Surviving besides the children are her mother, Mrs. Bessie Mae McClain of Darlington; two brothers, David and Wayne of Crawfordsville; a sister, Mrs. Walter Martin of Crawfordsville; four uncles, Paul Everson of Crawfordsville, Frantz Everson of Judson, Glenn Everson of New Castle and Ernest McClain of Indianapolis. Mrs. Lyon's father died in 1927. A brother and sister also preceded her in death. Funeral arrangements for Mr. and Mrs. Lyon are incomplete. The bodies were brought to the Bright Funeral Home in Crawfordsville.
